Dance Photography with a difference.

Project Bloom

We had such a great response from our dance photography blog a few weeks back that we thought it would be great to do another showcasing a different style from one of our recent dance shoots.

We're always striving to try new things and create work that stands out and is different from other work online. During this shoot we wanted to show off the talented dancers we have coming into the studio and highlight their incredible moves with our slow exposure techniques and colour gels.

When we are surrounded by such awesome scenery in Wellington we are spoilt for choice when it comes to finding great backgrounds for our different photoshoots. That being said, when we get into our little studio on Cuba Street we can start getting really creative.

We have a whole range of lights and colour gels we use to create awesome shots.

For these images we utilised a function called 'second curtain sync'. This allows us to keep the shutter on our camera open long enough to capture the movement and light trails and then have our flash trigger at the end of the shot to freeze the dancer and keep her nice and sharp.

As you can see, the different effects we can create with this technique are great!

If you or anyone you know would be interested in experiencing a shoot at our little Wellington photo studio why not enquire below. We have are known for our fashion experiences but are always open for dance shoots when requested.
